School District Goals
- Communication/Community Relations
Engage in two-way communication within the District among staff, parents, and the community, as well as outreach to legislators to advocate for our needs. Key components include:
- Update parents and the community on current and ongoing public health and safety guidelines
- Promote student and school activities, happenings, and accomplishments through available communication channels.
- Share and support implementation of Plan for Success Action Plans as part of the 4-Year Plan for Success (2021-2025).
- Include teaching and learning highlights and/or student recognitions at each regularly scheduled school committee meeting.
- Update parents and the community on facility needs or projects.
- Demonstrate that Foxborough Public Schools fosters community that embraces and celebrates diversity, equity and inclusion.
- Maintain collaborative relations with legislative leaders.
- Advocate for enhanced Chapter 70 funding and monitor charter school funding formula and decreasing state and federal grants.
- Student Success
Through a series of initiatives, we will provide equitable opportunities for all students to reach higher levels of achievement. Key components include:
- Increase capacity of staff to recognize and respond to bias and expand programming to address diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Support implementation and expansion of social emotional programming and supports that ensure a positive and productive learning environment for students and staff.
- Review, present and utilize student achievement data through annual updates.
- Monitor and assess effective inclusion and co-teaching practices that promote special education achievement goals. Provide annual update in March 2025.
- Support student outcomes by using the FPS Curriculum Review Cycle and to ensure alignment with state and national standards. Progress report annually.
- Support the development of the Vision of a Graduate and ways to assess student competencies across K-12 through the NEASC process.
School Committee Functions and Responsibilities
- Financial Management
The School Committee will ensure that the budget provides for the success of all students in the district while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
- Ensure the budget adequately supports the district’s mission, vision and goals.
- Review monthly budget reports and take appropriate actions.
- Meet and collaborate with municipal and legislative leaders on fiscal matters.
- Work with municipal officials in support of town financial plans and in concert with the town’s approved financial policies.
- Work with Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) and the community to articulate the needs for the renovation of the Taylor Elementary School.
- Appoint a budget subcommittee to monitor budget development throughout the year.
- Policy Development
The School Committee will review, approve, and maintain proactive and aligned policies to support student success in conjunction with the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC).
- Approve the policy manual when MASC advises of potential policy changes. With the help of MASC, the Committee and school administration will update individual policies when needed or required by district or legislative mandate.
- A policy subcommittee will monitor ongoing changes in policy per MASC throughout the year.
- Develop and implement a regular review process wherein the entire FPS policy manual is reviewed on a three (3) year cycle.
- Conduct a comprehensive policy review of the FPS policy manual by April 15, 2025.
- Create a New Member Guide for incoming and veteran Foxborough School Committee members that covers topics germane to local practices and protocols among the Foxborough School Committee, school administration, and the community.
- Superintendent’s Performance
The School Committee will:
- Support the Superintendent in the implementation of the district’s Plan for Success for systemic improvement and the ongoing development of a high functioning leadership team.
- Evaluate Superintendent’s performance and complete the School Committee overall composite evaluation by June 2025 and conduct public evaluation by July 2025.
